- Innovating AMR Therapeutics
Next-generation antimicrobial innovation for infected wounds
VolNera Bio is developing STAMPs, a novel topical antimicrobial approach designed to support rapid local infection control in chronic and infected wounds.
THE PROBLEM
Wound infection is a growing global challenge.
Chronic wounds, diabetic foot ulcers, pressure sores, surgical wounds and serious animal wounds can become infected and difficult to treat – particularly when bacteria are resistant to existing antibiotics.
With antimicrobial resistance (AMR) reducing the efficacy of systemic options, clinicians and veterinary professionals urgently need new, locally acting tools that can support infection control at the wound site.
INTRODUCING
STAMPS.
Sensitiser Tethered Antimicrobial Peptides
STAMPs is being developed as a topical antimicrobial treatment applied directly to the wound site – combining a sensitiser with an antimicrobial peptide in a single tethered molecule, designed for local action where it is needed most.
HOW IT WORKS
A dual mechanism, designed for the wound bed.
01 Sensitiser engagement
The sensitiser component is designed to weaken bacterial defences at the wound site.
02 Tethered peptide action
The tethered antimicrobial peptide has the potential to disrupt the bacterial membrane.
03 Local infection control
Together, the system is designed to support rapid, localised antimicrobial activity.
WHY IT MATTERS
Designed around the realities of modern wound care
Dual mechanism of action
Designed to combine a sensitiser with an antimicrobial peptide in a single tethered molecule.
Rapid local antimicrobial activity
Applied topically at the wound site to support fast local infection control.
Broad-spectrum wound pathogen relevance
Targeting clinically relevant Gram-positive and Gram-negative wound pathogens.
AMR-aligned innovation
Developed with antimicrobial resistance stewardship in mind from day one.
Potential to reduce systemic escalation
Has the potential to reduce reliance on systemic antibiotic escalation.
Human and veterinary potential
Applicable across human chronic wound care and veterinary indications.
TARGET APPLICATIONS
Indications under exploration
Human chronic wounds
Non-healing wounds where persistent infection limit recovery.
Diabetic foot ulcers & pressure sores
High-burden indications with significant unmet clinical need.
Veterinary wound care
Companion and large-animal wound management with similar AMR challenges.
Defence & field-care
Forward-care wound infection control in austere environments.
PARTNERING & MARKET TESTING
